Job Duties
The Department of Veteran Services is seeking a mission-driven Data Analyst to transform complex datasets into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across veteran services policy development and outreach initiatives. This role blends statistical modeling machine learning and data visualization to uncover trends assess program impact and inform equitable resource allocation.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with data projects supporting analysis important for the Commonwealth of Virginia. You will support the investigation of complex unstructured and semi-structured data to provide innovative solutions that help improve the customers accuracy efficiency and costs by giving them better control of their processes and data to support critical decisions in support of Research and Program Evaluation and provide support to the V3 Transition Program (V3TP) and Transition & Employment (T&E) and Education directorates.
This position requires strong Python skills and an interest in complex techniques related to Natural Language Processing (NLP) including Latent Semantic Analysis / Indexing (LSA/LSI) Named-entity recognition (NER) and Complex Event Processing (CEP).
Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint MySQL RStudio Time Series Analysis Lean 6 Sigma Statistical Regression Python Data Visualization: Tableau.
Experience analyzing performance data to compile metrics for senior leadership on a recurring basis.
Lead internal stakeholder interviews collect veteran engagement data and develop data visualizations to inform data-driven project solutions and senior level government decisions.
Conduct competitive analysis and market research to aid in project development.
Supports and analyzes agencys data collection and reporting processes.
Knowledge of various supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques especially familiarity and application of data clustering techniques.
Receive analyze and update CRM eDD214 data for outreach to TSMs who live in Virginia.
Perform deeper dives of Manage the electronic dd214 data initiative by collecting and distribute to service line managers. This data is broken down by gender age category and region allowing for a deeper dive into transitioning service members (TSM) transitioning by region.
