Custodian/Groundskeeper

REPORTS TO:Principal and Director of Buildings and GroundsTERMS OF: In accordance with the existing bargaining agreement between Somerset EMPLOYMENT Berkley Regional School District and AFSCME. Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m 7:00 p.m. SALARY: In accordance with the existing bargaining agreement between Somerset Berkley Regional School District and DUE:Until filledJob Goal: The responsibility of the Custodian/Groundskeeper is to help maintain a clean safe and attractive school environment. This role includes both indoor custodial duties and outdoor groundskeeping responsibilities. The ideal candidate will take pride in creating a welcoming space for students staff and visitors and will ensure that all facilities and grounds are kept in excellent Duties (Indoor):Clean and sanitize classrooms restrooms hallways offices gymnasiums cafeterias and other common mop vacuum and scrub trash and recycling bins supplies in restrooms classrooms and staff light maintenance tasks (e.g. change light bulbs tighten fixtures).Secure buildings by locking doors and windows after up rooms for meetings classes or events (move furniture arrange equipment).Report building repairs safety hazards or supply needs to with school safety policies and health Duties (Outdoor):Mow lawns trim bushes and maintain landscaped weeds leaves and debris from school sidewalks and outdoor walkways (sweeping power washing snow/ice removal).Assist with seasonal tasks such as salting during winter and watering during dry minor maintenance of outdoor equipment and fixtures (benches fences signage).Ensure parking lots and exterior areas are clean safe and free from irrigation systems and report malfunctions.
