Are you a creative communicator passionate about making a meaningful impact in your community As a Communications Officer you will lead the creation and management of the Recorders Office digital and video this role youll produce and edit video and photography develop graphic design materials and translate and deliver accurate bilingual (Spanish) messaging to ensure accessibility for all residents. You will also help manage press releases social media and internal communications maintaining consistent branding and clear information across all platforms. This position plays a critical role in helping the Recorders Office engage and inform Maricopa County residents about recording services elections and voter registration.

About Us
The Maricopa County Recorders Office (MCRO) is responsible for recording all documents required by law and making them available for public record. MCRO oversees the voter registration process documentation and administration for the Countys approximately 2.5 million voters. It also plays a management role in overseeing early voting all mail elections and other election processes and administration. MCRO offers a friendly welcoming and collaborative environment with opportunities to grow and learn new skills.

We Require
One year of professional communications journalism public relations marketing or a related field
Bachelors degree in Communications Graphic Design/Digital Media Journalism Public Relations Public Administration or a related field
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Strong bilingual communication (English & Spanish) including written and verbal skills
Other Requirements
Must complete the next scheduled Secretary of State Election Officer Certification
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona drivers license by the time of hire
Must be eligible to vote in Arizona and pass an applicable background screening

Job Contributions
Digital Production & Editing Produce and edit short-form educational videos capture event photography and provide visual coverage of outreach activities and campaigns
Graphic Design Create flyers infographics event materials presentations and digital graphics that support outreach and office initiatives
Spanish Translation & Outreach Translate and adapt all public-facing materials into Spanish per federal requirements conduct interviews with Spanish-language media and support bilingual constituent communications
Public Information & Media Relations Distribute press releases through official channels coordinate messaging across departments and manage media inquiries
Website Management Oversee and update office websites to ensure accuracy accessibility and user-friendly design
Social Media Develop write and schedule content across Facebook X/Twitter Instagram Nextdoor YouTube and other platforms maintaining consistent branding and public engagement
Internal Communications Produce the offices monthly newsletter support cross-departmental updates and assist in developing and implementing a broader internal communications plan.
Working Conditions
Work primarily occurs in a business office setting but requires frequent travel to other office sites and event locations where weather conditions may vary
Ability to move objects lifting floor to waist (up to 25 pounds) and pushing/pulling (up to 50 pounds)
Occasional evenings weekends and/or holidays may be required
