Under the supervision of the Chief of Investigations investigates apparent natural/unnatural deaths responding to scenes or obtaining information via telephone or other social media devices when assisting with the determination of the cause and manner of death. Receives notifications of death and determines whether the death is defined under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Medical Examiner. Conducts death scene investigations by attending the scene; interviews family members; law enforcement agency representatives; medical personnel; and individuals with pertinent information. Photographs death scenes at investigation site; obtains medical records or specimens from the sites or medical facilities; prepares detailed written reports; and communicates investigation findings to Pathologists. Performs other duties as assigned.

*Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES) Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.
Ability to read and explain County State and Federal laws legislating environmental protection regulations.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn new software.
Knowledg
e of basic engineering principles and practices to analyze blueprints and specifications of industrial and commercial enterprises.
Skill utilizing reference material to extract necessary formulas and information needed to calculate emission rates relevant to environmental pollution control.
Skill operating various portable monitors and measurement devices with the ability to interpret instrument readings in regards to pollution control.
Skill creating technical diagrams drawings and hand sketches of industrial and commercial processes and/or related facility layouts.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats with the general public respective to the mandates of County State and Federal environmental protection laws.
