The Texas A&M University Corpus Christi College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Public Administration with qualifications to teach in our Master of Public Administration (MPA) program beginning August 2026. A record of excellence in teaching research and service is expected. Course load is 3-3 per academic year; research and service commensurate with tenure-track appointments in the College of Liberal Arts.
Teaching assignments may include classroom (face-to-face) hybrid and online classes. The incumbent will teach graduate-level courses in the Master of Public Administration program and may need to contribute to the undergraduate teaching needs of the Political Science and/or Criminal Justice disciplines in the department. The area of specialization is open; however candidates must be able to contribute to teaching in the core of the MPA program which includes topics such as U.S. Government and Texas Institutions organizational theory research methods public budgeting and policy making. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
The Department of Social Sciences (DSOC) is a multi-disciplinary department in the College of Liberal Arts that offers undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice as well as a graduate degree of Master of Public Administration and two related graduate certificates. Through its contribution to the core curriculum Political Science is one of the largest generators of student credit hours for the university. The Criminal Justice program is one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus. The MPA program is one of the oldest and largest graduate programs in the College of Liberal Arts. DSOC faculty are leaders on campus in the community and in their disciplines. Required Qualifications:
PhD or Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) degree in Public Administration Political Science Public Policy Public Affairs Public Management Urban Affairs Public Planning or a closely related discipline. Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
Demonstrated evidence of an active research agenda that has the potential to result in published scholarly works or peer-reviewed products.
The potential to teach in a variety of formats to include classroom hybrid and online courses.
Ability to teach in the core of the MPA program including topics such as U.S. Government and Texas Institutions Organizational Theory Research Methods Public Budgeting and Policy Making.
Ability to excel in an interdisciplinary team-focused environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those candidates who prefer a management approach to the study of Public Administration.
Demonstrate recent evidence of teaching effectiveness through student evaluations peer reviews and/or self-evaluation; and show an active research program agenda that has resulted in published scholarly works or peer-reviewed products.
