Woodston Personnel is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant in Pediatric Anesthesia to join our clients multidisciplinary team. The consultant will provide expert anesthesia care to pediatric patients across a range of surgical specialties. This role requires advanced clinical skills a commitment to patient safety and the ability to work effectively in a high-acuity environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:
Deliver safe and effective anesthesia care to neonates infants children and adolescents undergoing surgery or diagnostic procedures.
Pre-operative assessment and optimization of pediatric patients.
Intra-operative anesthetic management including general regional and sedation techniques appropriate for pediatric patients.
Post-operative pain management and care in collaboration with surgical and intensive care teams.
Emergency airway and resuscitation management in pediatric and neonatal patients.
Participate in pediatric pain services and contribute to development of pediatric anesthesia protocols.
Administrative and Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor junior anesthesiologists residents and fellows.
Participate in departmental meetings policy development and clinical governance.
Ensure adherence to international standards of care and hospital policies.
Maintain accurate timely and complete medical records and documentation.
Teaching and Research:
Participate in the teaching of medical students residents and other healthcare professionals.
Engage in clinical research and audits to improve pediatric anesthesia practice.
Contribute to continuing professional development (CPD) activities.
Core Competencies and Skills:
Expertise in pediatric and neonatal anesthesia techniques.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
Strong leadership and teaching ability.
Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement.
Job requirements
Mandatory Certification (one of the following):
US Board Certification in Anesthesiology (with Pediatric Fellowship preferred)
FRCS (Anesthesia) Irish UK Canadian New Zealand or Australian Boards
Diplme dtudes Spcialises (DES) or Certificat dEtudes Spcialises (CIS) French Board in Anesthsie-Ranimation
Facharzt in Anesthesiology Sub-specialty Certification/Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia (German/European system)
CCST (UK) Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Anesthesia with Pediatric specialization
Experience:
Minimum 35 years post-Board/Fellowship clinical experience in pediatric anesthesia including neonates infants and children.
Proven experience in managing high-risk pediatric cases including congenital anomalies and pediatric intensive care support.
