Background

Campus Services (CS) employs over 900 staff with a turnover exceeding 57m in the last financial year. CS plays a key role in the quality of the student staff and visitor experience providing services across diverse areas such as the Universitys sporting facilities food and beverage cleaning community safety and security conferencing hotel operations day nurseries portering post branded and own-brand retail outlets visitor services and attractions (e.g. Winterbourne House & Gardens) student housing transport waste disposal and recycling. CS is a highly commercial organisation operating within the University context and has an ambitious strategic agenda in terms of growing our service profile across both our Birmingham and Dubai campuses.

Role Summary

The Live Events Technician role is responsible for the delivery of a range of event technical production services to support musical conference and other events at the University of technicians primary areas of responsibility are the Elgar Concert Hall and the Great Hall however technical assistance for events across the University campus and the city centre Exchange venue will also form part of the role.

The Technician working under the Live Events Technical Manager will ensure the smooth running of technical event services and events. They will provide assistance and support to incoming artistes and external production companies from technical and stagecraft aspects. Other activities that require technical support will include rehearsals commercial events lectures conferences etc. both within the building and across the wider support of the Live Events Technical Manager the post holder will also support both maintenance and health & safety aspects within the venues to ensure that current regulations and legislation are adhered to. The successful applicant will be able to work weekends early starts late nights and bank holidays where required.
