The College of Social Sciences at the University of Birmingham is dedicated to enhancing the academic and social experiences of its students. This role open to undergraduate students within the College plays a crucial part in achieving this mission. Our College encompasses various schools each committed to academic excellence and the promotion of a diverse and inclusive community.

We are looking for current students to join our team to support student experience activity for the College.
Ambassadors may be involved in activities including delivering presentations to large audiences leading campus tours generating social media content supporting the organisation and delivery of events and facilitating feedback collection and collation to support analysis and action planning.
Successful candidates will be required to attend a training day in September where they will receive a comprehensive overview of the role responsibilities and tasks required as well as EDB training from experienced staff.
All Ambassadors are also expected to make themselves available for Welcome Week in September.
Main Duties
You will be managed by a member of the College Student Experience team who will direct your work and priorities. These to include any combination of:
Supporting Welcome Week activity which may include:
working on the Arrivals Weekend Welcome stall (20-21 September)
supporting team building events for new students
leading campus tours
preparing and delivering presentations
participating in student panels (topics include your student experience student life transition support information for all students and other issues that are important to students).
Throughout the academic year facilitating co-creation and delivery of peer-led events.With staff oversight;
suggesting ideas for impactfulactivities
identifying the resources required
promoting the event
supporting on-the-day delivery of activities/events
capturing event evaluation information from attendees
Responding professionally and knowledgably to ad-hoc queries relating to events and EDB information such as those received at events on social media and at information stalls.
Assisting with contributions to student communications such as items for student newsletters and social media content ensuring that content is inclusive and reflects and represents the needs of our diverse student cohort
Supporting student feedback activity particularly the promotion of all available feedback routes including national surveys and collating academic feedback captured throughout the year
Supporting with the design and delivery of awareness-raising campaigns on Equality Diversity & Belonging (EDB) initiativesand celebrating key cultural dates in students calendars (such as Lunar New Year Diwali and awareness months)
Supporting and working with pre-existing EDB-related activities within your School to support Schools broader strategic objectives
At the request of School Committees (such as Education or EDB committee) contributing to curriculum development initiatives (such as decolonisation work)
Listening to and engaging with feedback and suggestions on EDB-related issues from all students within your respective School including undergraduates and postgraduates in all departments
Sitting on the School Equality Diversity and Belonging Committee for your respective School
