Job Summary

TO:All Teaching and Administrative Personnel Brockton Public Schools FROM:Dr. Kathleen F. Moran Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources SUBJECT:Elementary Inclusion Steering CommitteeFunding is available for a team of staff and administrators to serve on the Elementary Inclusion Steering partnership with Boston Universitys Teaching and Learning Department Brockton Public Schools Inclusion Steering Committee will be a collaborative advisory group formed to reimagine and enhance the way special education services are delivered in our schools. Rooted in the belief that all students deserve equitable access to high-quality education the committee will explore how to evolve from our current practice toward a more inclusive responsive and effective system that supports the diverse needs of all committee will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders to guide a comprehensive review of current practices analyze data and examine national and global models of inclusion. Through a collaborative and reflective process the committee will develop recommendations for innovative and sustainable service delivery models that prioritize student outcomes belonging and access to the general education steering committee will be facilitated by the Assistant Directors of Special Education for Elementary Schools and the Special Education Inclusive Coordinator K-5; with co-facilitation support from Boston Universitys Teaching and Learning Department. Positions of the Steering Committee may include up to: Elementary Level Principal (up to 2) Special Education Coordinators (up to 2)Special Education Coaches (up to 2)Curriculum Leaders/Coordinators Elementary Level (up to 2) Elementary Integrated Teacher (up to 3) *preference given by grade levelElementary General Education Teachers (up to 3) *preference given by grade levelElementary MSN Teacher (up to 3)Elementary Substantially Separate Teacher (up to 2)Elementary Paraprofessional (up to 2)Elementary Level School Based Team Chairperson (1) Qualifications to collaborate effectively with others and to meet all established deadlines skills to work independently experience in Wonders Illustrative Math ECRI and/or of three years of teaching experience in data collection and review/analysis of data and experience in developing proposals and facilitating oral and/or written presentations Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with team members to: Design a New Inclusion Framework: Develop and recommend a comprehensive model for delivering inclusive education and special education Current Practices: Review the effectiveness of current integrated classroom structures and identify areas for growth based on data Equity and Access: Identify and address barriers to participation support Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and advocate for inclusive teaching Policy and Program Development: Recommend improvements to policies procedures and resource allocation to better support inclusive education for students with Guidance on Professional Development: Identify staff training needs and support development of ongoing learning opportunities related to inclusive a Culture of Inclusion: Promote respect understanding and positive relationships among all students and staff. Develop a written summary to include the root cause analyses and the proposed action plan Engage Stakeholders: Facilitate collaboration between students families educators and administrators to ensure a shared Dates: A mixture of live and virtual committee meetings and subgroup or independent teamwork; September 2025 June 2026. Exact times to be determined by steering committee. May also include cross committee work with the Success Gap Steering Committee (established in 24-25 and continuing in 25-26). Time Commitment: Two hour in-person monthly meetings combined with additional hours dependent on tasks independent work and/or group work.
