This is a temporary position with no paid benefits.

All internships are paid full-time summer of 2026 positions.

Summary of Work
Also known as District 3 we are a hardworking team dedicated to keeping North Dakotas transportation system running smoothly. From highway construction and maintenance to traffic engineering materials testing and equipment upkeep we handle it allincluding rest areas and visitor centers. A unique challenge we face is managing rising lake levels often requiring emergency projects to keep roads open and safe. With about 70 full-time employees we proudly maintain 2285 lane miles across the district. District 3The Place to Be!

This internship will provide quality experience with reading and understanding NDDOT plans and specifications while working on construction projects. Applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience in materials testing construction surveying and construction inspection.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be enrolled in an engineering technology or civil/construction engineering or construction technology (or similar) undergraduate degree program.
Requires ability to lift and carry a total weight of up to 50 pounds.
Possession of a valid Class D driver License for travel within the state of North Dakota.
