Qualifications and Skills

Education: A bachelors degree in engineering (e.g. Mechanical Industrial) Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science or a related field.

Certifications: Professional certifications such as NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) OSHA certifications or a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are highly preferred and in some cases mandatory.

Experience: Proven experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar HSE role within the engineering manufacturing or construction industry.

Technical Knowledge:

In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices specific to the engineering and manufacturing industry.

Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and hazard analysis (e.g. HAZOP FMEA JSA).

Familiarity with safety management systems and data analysis tools.

Soft Skills:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and communicate with a diverse workforce.

Strong leadership abilities to motivate and influence others to prioritize safety.

Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address complex safety challenges.
