Starting salary:32255 per annum
Contract type:Fixed Termuntil 5th August 2026
Grade:3
Location:Longmore House Edinburgh/ Fort George Inverness with hybrid option
Working Hours:Monday - Friday 35 hours per week
Interviews:To be held in person at Longmore House/Engine Shed or over MS Teams on Week Commencing 6th October
This role will support the Skills Investment Plan Manager to deliver the Skills Investment Plan. The Skills Investment Plan for the Historic Environment (SIP) is a sector wide strategy created after consultation with a wide range of individuals and organisations. It identifies the actions that need to be taken by partners to address skills challenges and maximise opportunities in the ten pillar areas that form the SIP footprint such as construction tourism archaeology and business.

Key Responsibilities of this role
Develop and sustain in-depth understanding of the skills needs of the sector
- Collaborate with internal colleagues and external partners to collate data to support reporting on the progress and impact of the Skills Investment Plan (SIP).
- Undertake horizon-scanning and desk-based research in relation to Skills policy development and provision and assist in identifying potential funding and other resourcing opportunities to support the delivery of the SIP.
- Assist in the collection analysis and presentation of data to inform planning promote the skills agenda and support business cases proposals funding bids and consultations.
Build and maintain relationships
- Develop and maintain relationships with external and internal partners for the purpose of delivering against actions in the SIP.
- Provide a point of contact for advice and support on sector Skills development and provision.
- Assist the SIP Manager in coordinating the SIP delivery groups.
Provide programme support
- Provide project and programme support for a range of existing national external collaborations particularly around careers education and attracting future talent.
- Coordinate and support key Skills events.
Support Communications and advocacy work
- Work with internal and external communications colleagues to raise awareness of the SIP SIP activity and key messages.
- Write content and maintain SIP web pages.
Other
- Undertake other duties that may from time to time be necessary and are compatible with the form and grade of this post.

Essential:
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner.
- Experience of research and/or data collection and analysis.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to work across multiple areas while prioritising competing demands and delivering tasks within tight deadlines.
- Experience of managing projects with external partners including planning developing delivery monitoring evaluating and reporting on performance.
- Experience of building and successfully maintaining internal and external relationships partnerships projects and networks to achieve results.
- Strong commitment to equity.
