Job Description

Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL)

Job Overview

cFocus Software is seeking a Subject Matter Expert III (Database Administrator Microsoft SQL) to support the Security Tools and Infrastructure Modernization (STIM) contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The SME III will provide mid- to senior-level expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration performance tuning and compliance in support of enterprise-scale environments.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Microsoft SQL Server databases including installation configuration patching and lifecycle management.
  • Perform database performance tuning indexing and query optimization.
  • Implement and manage High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions including Always On clustering and log shipping.
  • Support database backup recovery and storage management strategies.
  • Develop and enforce database security and auditing policies in compliance with federal requirements.
  • Support integration of databases with enterprise applications and analytics platforms.
  • Provide troubleshooting and root cause analysis for database issues.
  • Create and maintain database documentation SOPs and schema diagrams.

Required Experience

  • 8 years of database administration and engineering experience.
  • Proven expertise in SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) administration and optimization.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale database clusters and instances.
  • Knowledge of DISA STIGs for SQL Server and federal compliance frameworks (NIST SP 800-53 FISMA FedRAMP).
  • Experience collaborating with developers and application teams to support enterprise systems.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field (Masters preferred).
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate certification required.
  • MCSE: Data Management and Analytics certification (legacy) acceptable.
  • Additional certifications such as Security or cloud database management certifications are desirable.

Clearance Requirement

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Moderate to High-Risk) clearance
