Job Description
The primary responsibility of Drafter I is to produce complete and accurate drafting deliverables (e.g. drawings shop details BOMs) while maintaining high quality and on-time delivery to meet specific customer requirements. This position requires technical knowledge of Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings proficiency in detailing tools such as AutoCAD and familiarity with interdepartmental processes. A strong understanding of advanced trigonometry and geometry is also necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce neat accurate and easy-to-follow fabrication documents that reflect design calculations and comply with manufacturing limitations.
- Create accurate permits approval and erection drawings that align with purchase order requirements and provide detailed instructions for material erection.
- Manage tight schedules often accommodating last-minute changes and shifting priorities.
- Communicate needs concerns and obstacles with team members to ensure prompt issue resolution.
- Respond quickly and professionally to calls emails and other correspondence from customers design teams or manufacturingwithout compromising schedule commitments.
- Offer expert support in resolving field issues and provide necessary documentation for customer service while minimizing schedule impact.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve productivity accuracy and overall performance.
- Safeguard company interests when investigating field modifications or deviations.
- Work additional hours when necessary to meet critical deadlines.
- Understand your role within the broader organizational system and be willing to step outside that role when needed.
- Participate in and provide back-checking feedback as part of continuous learning and development.
- Mentor and coach less experienced drafters.
Qualifications :
- 3 years of experience in metal building drafting.
- 1 year of experience serving as a checker or quality inspector for buildings with complexity levels 14.
- 3 years of experience using Tekla AutoCAD Trimble Connect and other detailing software.
- High attention to detail.
- Adaptability and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand document workflows and follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to perform under pressure while adhering to established procedures and guidelines.
- Strong mathematical and trigonometric calculation skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
EDUCATION / ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Certification in AutoCAD Tekla or related design software preferred.
