Job Summary:
The Transportation Routing Specialist is responsible for providing high-level administrative support to the transportation department with a primary focus on the planning development and maintenance of efficient and safe bus routes for the school division. This role requires a combination of technical skills strong communication and meticulous administrative management.
Essential Duties
- Develop maintain and optimize daily school bus routes using TransAct EZRouting software.
- Ensure all routes comply with federal state and local transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Analyze route efficiency recommend improvements and coordinate route changes in response to changing needs or emergencies.
- Monitor GPS and routing systems for accuracy and performance.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the transportation department schools bus drivers and families.
- Professionally manage all inquiries and complaints providing timely responses or escalating issues as needed.
- Communicate route changes delays and other essential information to all stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and current data on student addresses bus stops and ridership.
- Manage various departmental records including driver lists mileage reports and personnel files.
- Prepare and process reports invoices purchase requisitions and other essential documents.
- Perform general office duties such as typing correspondence managing mail and ordering supplies.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications
Associates Degree in business and five (5) years of office administration customer relations or related experience is preferred. Working experience in UnifiedTalent PowerSchool and Powerschool SIS is highly desirable.
Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license with an acceptable driving history.
Physical Demands
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone enter data into a computer terminal/typewriter and perform required tasks; ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels (in the office on the telephone and on the transportation radio); speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal office levels (on the telephone and the transportation radio); physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height; to bend to stoop to sit on the floor to climb stairs to walk and to reach overhead.
