The Accounts Payable Manager oversees the accounts payable function ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors and maintaining vendor relationships. This role requires strong leadership deep knowledge of AP processes and the ability to manage and develop a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the accounts payable team including hiring training and performance evaluations.
- Oversee invoice processing ensuring proper coding approval and documentation.
- Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors via check ACH or other electronic methods.
- Review and reconcile vendor statements resolving discrepancies and ensuring accurate balances.
- Develop and implement AP policies and procedures to improve efficiency and internal control.
- Manage the month-end closing process for AP including accruals and reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze AP reports and metrics providing insights to management on payment trends and vendor performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage vendor relationships addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
- Assist with financial statement audits and tax preparation by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Ensure internal controls and necessary training to prevent fraud.
- Manage and prepare all accounts payable tax forms such as annual 1099s to vendors.
- Review IRS regulatory updates and make changes to the tax setup/rules in the financial system as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors degree in accounting finance or related field required.
