Do you have a passion for helping students Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for a lead elementary special education teaching position available that will share responsibilities between Harding Avenue Elementary and Margaret Beeks Elementary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Itinerant lead teacher for Special Education overseeing the department in each school building to ensure compliance with VDOE regulations regarding eligibility and IEPs. This person will collaborate with the administration to develop schedules for students with disabilities special education paraprofessionals and teachers.
- Collaborate with central office staff administration and school staff to develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide the most appropriate education for each student.
- Review existing special education documentation and in-house files for compliance with VDOE regulations.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teachers License with appropriate endorsement in area to which assigned
- Possess knowledge of medical aspects of disabilities and their implications for instruction
- Possess knowledge of resources and techniques needed to integrate special education students into the least restrictive environment
- Have experience in curriculum development and effective lesson planning
- Possess ability to effectively assess student learning and use results to plan and implement appropriate instruction
- Have experience and expertise in using technology specifically Google Suite
- Create and maintain an inclusive supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students
- Communicate effectively with strong written verbal presentation and interpersonal skills
- Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
- Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
- Demonstrate dependability punctuality and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a Masters degree in Education
FLSA: Exempt
SALARY: $52832.35 - $85613.64 with benefits commensurate with experience and pro-rated to start date
