Are you looking for a varied and rewarding role where you can be an integral part of the team that helps to support marine infrastructure including projects necessary to ensure delivery of the Scottish Governments climate change and Net Zero emissions goals

Marine Directorate has an exciting opportunity for 2 Casework Officers to help deliver a robust and efficient licensing and consenting system for marine port harbours and offshore energy projects in Scotland. The roles are based in the Marine Directorates Licensing Operations Team (MD-LOT) team one role within the Marine Licencing Section and the other in the Consenting Section of the team. MD-LOT support the efficient and effective marine licensing and s.36 consenting processes for projects in Scottish waters.

You will be responsible for processing applications for consents and marine licences assisting in the teams complianceand enforcement activity and ensuring that procedures are followed. You will ensure the provision of a high quality service to Scottish Ministers applicants and stakeholders in a dynamic fast paced environment. You will also be required to undertake work in relation to Habitats Regulations Appraisals Marine Protected Area Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments in accordance with in-house guidelines.

Pay Supplement: This post qualifies for the MS-LOT pay supplement currently 5000 per annum. Pay supplements are temporary payments designed to address recruitment and retention issues caused by the market. For staff not currently in receipt of the allowance it is payable after successful completion of the qualifying period normally nine months. Pay supplements are subject to regular review.

  • Process applications and evaluate supporting evidence following agreed procedures and standards.
  • Monitor compliance with licence conditions following established procedures.
  • Provide advice and respond to queries based on sound knowledge of relevant legislation and policy and in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Act as point of contact for applicants and internal and external stakeholders including environmental bodies and other maritime industries representatives.
