Where youll work:

Depending on the needs of your business area we expect hub based people to be in the office at least once a week and to go to OVO Connection events in-person.

Youll be assigned to the closest one of our three hub offices Bristol Glasgow or London; unless your role requires field-based work. Each hub has accessible spaces to park your laptop is designed to inspire people help them connect and bring big ideas to life.

You will be working within the Commercial Performance team where our key focus is to ensure the Commercial function delivers our customer numbers targets driving value as we encourage our customers on the Path to Zero.

This role in a nutshell:

This is a high-impact role responsible for driving value by shaping OVOs overarching acquisition and retention strategy for Energy. You will be a key thought partner to commercial leadership shaping the agenda for how we price our product and services in partnership with the Pricing team (who are our key experts in delivering and structuring our Energy Tariffs). This role requires a balance of deep analytical expertise strong commercial intuition and the ability to influence decisions across a breadth of experienced individuals (beyond day-to-day pricing decisions) to help set the long-term direction

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Strategic Counsel on Commercial Strategy: Act as the Commercial Performance Business Partner to commercial leads. Provide in-depth analysis and modelling to shape and validate commercial strategies ensuring our pricing and acquisition approach continues to drive both customer growth and long term value but also keep the same leads accountable to delivery post assessment.
  • Influence Pricing Execution: Support the Head of Commercial performance by partnering with the Pricing team. Provide strategic guidance analytical challenge and supportive frameworks to ensure day-to-day pricing activities are aligned to long term strategy providing clear articulation between short-term and long-term trade offs.
  • Value Optimisation: Leveraging experience on different pricing strategies/approaches developing models to assess the long term impact of different pricing strategies and customer segments to ensure our decisions are data-driven and commercially sound.
  • Financial Impact Partnership:Collaborate closely with the Finance and Energy Market Optimisation (EMO) team to develop robust ways of working to quantify the financial impact of our sales pricing and acquisition activities ensuring a clear and consistent view of our commercial performance.

Within your first 3 months youll:

  • Develop a deep understanding of OVOs commercial objectives current pricing frameworks and the competitive and regulatory landscape.
  • Established strong and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders become a trusted advisor
  • Delivered an initial assessment of the key drivers of value within our Energy Business presenting a clear hypothesis on opportunities for enhancement
  • Actively influencing a key commercial strategy by delivering data-driven recommendations that have been incorporated into the plan

Youll be a successful in this role at OVO if you

  • Have strong experience in a strategic pricing or commercial strategy role preferably within the energy sector or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Possess a proventrack record of developing and implementing successful pricing strategies that have delivered tangible business results
  • Are ahighly strategic thinker with the ability to see the bigger picture connect disparate pieces of information and anticipate future market trends
  • Demonstrateexceptional analytical and quantitative skills with strong command of Excel/Google Sheets and proficiency in SQL for interrogating large complex datasets.
  • Are anoutstanding communicator and influencer capable of building strong relationships and articulating complex ideas simply and persuasively to senior stakeholders
  • Are anatural self-starter comfortable with ambiguity proactive in identifying and solving unstructured problems.
  • Haveexperience working in cross-functional projects and collaborating effectively with colleagues across different teams who are focused on delivering different success factors.
  • Arecommercial astute with a deep understanding of the key drivers of business value and profitability
  • Arefinancially fluent with a clear understanding of a P&L and the ability to connect commercial decisions to financial outcomes
