Job Description

The host/hostess provides guests with the very first impression of a restaurant playing a crucial role in the guest experience. As a host/hostess you must greet guests sincerely and thank them with a kind good-bye upon their exit. The host/hostess also must answer phone calls confirm all reservations and manage seating processes to ensure enough time and space for parties. This position requires a friendly personality problem-solving skills fast thinking organization and working well under pressure. Candidates must offer availability on a regular basis with weekends in particular.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Greet guests upon their arrival
  • Escort guests to their seats provide menus to guests and inform them of the name of their server
  • Maintain an accurate fair and up-to-date waitlist and seating chart
  • Inform guests when their table is ready
  • Oversee the general functioning of the dining room during the meal service period relaying information to service personnel requesting feedback from guests about their satisfaction making adjustments when and where necessary
  • Take and manage reservations in restaurants that allow reservations
  • Balance the customer flow among the service stations taking into account requests for a particular table or server depending on availability
