What you will do:

Administrative & Technical Support

Provide technical guidance on projects; establish costs & timelines

EIMS Entry

Ensure Accuracy of data

Oversee & coordinate administrative functions for the Highway Management Administrator & with county garages; lead meetings & provide support to the Highway Management division

Prepare reports & documentation using Microsoft Office applications with advanced skills in Excel. Identify materials labor costs work order approvals & accurately run reports & obtain data. Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Excel & operate an iPad for data collection.

Program & Management

Assist in developing operational work plans for Cuyahoga Lake & Geauga County

Supervise assigned employees provide coverage for managers

Adopt-A-Highway

Develop & implement short-range plans aligned with departmental goals

Establish work priorities that align with strategic initiatives assist with schedules & purchasing

Evaluate work unit practices identify trends through data collection & recommend solutions

Help develop operational work plans & implement short & long-range goals to improve focus on critical success factors.

Field Operations

Conduct field inspections; Assess pavement rail BMPs drainage conditions & other items as needed.

Identify deficiencies & make necessary updates in the iPad collector review county inspections

Transportation Manager 2 Highway Management PN - Cuyahoga County - Garfield Hts.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one year probationary period.

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

If this position is filled internally the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code

Background Check: The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicants prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

The final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment per section 3719.01 & 3719.41 of Ohio revised code.

12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. supervisory principles & techniques or management; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. inventory control; valid driver license & In addition applicants must meet one of the following depending upon the program projects assigned to the position in question: For positions involved in equipment maintenance & repair requires 3 yrs. trg. or 3 yrs. equipment maintenance & repair (i.e. automotive mechanics &/or auto body repair) associated safety practices & using/operating associated equipment.

-Or for positions involved in bridge maintenance & repair requires 3 yrs. trg. or 3 yrs. bridge maintenance & repair associated safety practices & using/operating associated equipment.

-Or for positions involved in route marking requires 3 yrs. trg. or 3 yrs. route marking associated safety practices & using/operating-associated equipment.

-Or for positions involved in highway maintenance requires 3 yrs. trg. or 3 yrs. highway maintenance associated safety practices & using/operating associated equipment.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Note: if position will be assigned to operate motorized equipment of size & type regulated by Sections 4506.1 4506.03 & 4506.12 of Ohio Revised Code applicant must also have valid commercial driver license; if required to operate state vehicle
