About the opportunity

The Operations Manager is critical to TIAs success providing leadership to the state-wide technical team and ensuring the efficient safe and professional delivery of research and teaching infrastructure and programs. The role manages TIAs extensive field sites laboratories equipment and static infrastructure and leads risk management to ensure compliance with University Tasmanian and Australian regulations.

This position requires a proactive solutions-focused leader with strong stakeholder engagement skills operational planning experience and the ability to manage budgets and competing priorities. The Operations Manager fosters a culture of safety service excellence and continuous improvement in support of TIAs strategic goals.

What youll do:

  • Lead and manage TIAs technical team ensuring safe efficient effective and high-quality delivery of teaching research and field programs across the state.
  • Promote and maintain a strong Work Health and Safety (WHS) culture.
  • Manage expenditure and cost recovery across assigned budgets.
  • Provide the TIA Executive Team with high-level technical advice and input into strategic planning and progress reporting.
  • Collaborate with relevant marketing and communications teams to support the delivery of community engagement activities ensuring compliance with safety standards.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of research teaching and operational.
  • Ability to manage teams with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of safety and risk management and mitigation procedures.
  • Broad understanding of building design scientific research equipment and agricultural machinery.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $152033 comprising base salary within the range of $114282 to $129943 plus 17% superannuation.
