Job Description
- Experience knowledge training and/or education in Business Administration Public Administration or a related discipline
- Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) or a related professional designation
- Leadership experience in contract management legal or procure-to-pay environments demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of related processes and practices including senior leadership experience within procurement legal or contract management preferably within large public sector teams with demonstrated knowledge of contract law governmental policies trade agreements and regulations
- Specialized knowledge and experience in contract management including knowledge of contract law domestic and international trade agreements partnerships and regulations
- Experience with SAP Ariba or similar procurement-to-payment (P2P) systems
- Combinations of education and experience will be considered
Assets:
- A Masters Degree in a related field
- Experience with SAP Ariba or similar procurement-to-payment (P2P) systems
- Project Management Professional (PMP)

Conditions of Employment and Work Environment:
- 1 temporary full-time position up to 18 months in duration
- Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite
- Salary: (Annually) $120328.53 - $150408.62
- Hire is dependent on Criminal Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton. There may be a cost associated with this requirement

Reporting to the Director Contract Strategy & Systems Solutions the Manager Contract Strategy is a key leader responsible for aligning the City of Edmonton contract framework with its overall strategic vision. This role is a vital connector ensuring seamless integration and communication between Council the Executive Leadership Team and various internal partners. You will drive operational excellence and lead a team of leaders to ensure our contract management policies procedures and practices are cohesive and effective across the entire City. This is a chance to have a direct impact on the efficiency and governance of our organization by helping to create a robust and unified system.
As a member of the Corporate Procurement and Supply Services (CPSS) Leadership Team you will be accountable for optimizing the Citys human social and technical systems to deliver measurable outcomes. This leadership position requires structured execution strategic planning and the ability to inspire a high-performing team.
What will you do
- Provide leadership and strategic direction by fostering collaboration both internally and externally drive development of governance practices contract and vendor management processes contract negotiations skills contract templates tools and technology standards and training
- Collaborate with contract management teams throughout the organization to provide expert guidance and support for effective contract management ensuring adherence to the predefined service level standards policies and processes established for the City and the Branch
- Systematically identify and prioritize contract management needs setting clear quantifiable targets for the number of needs identified and the extent to which resources are allocated to fulfill the Citys requirements
- Continue to establish best-in-class contract management processes procedures and principles related to implementation of programs governance compliance and best management practices for the City to adopt that further grows maturity for contract management practices
- Continue to develop vision strategies and operating principles to guide and influence work culture
- Continue to build healthy and positive work environments that enable the team to reach their potential while strengthening organizational capacity
- Apply industry expertise and innovation to respond effectively to changing conditions
