Description

The Manger of Regulatory Affairs is a collaborative leader supporting the implementation of regulatory strategies. Reporting directly to the Corporate Director Regulatory Affairs and working closely with the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs the Manager of Regulatory Affairs assists in the implementation and sustainment of system-wide regulatory initiatives to ensure consistent alignment with federal state and accrediting body requirements.

The Manager collaborates with Emory Healthcare leaders and staff to reinforce a culture of safety quality and continuous survey readiness in support of the organizations - Always Patient Ready - mission. This position supports the operationalization of regulatory strategies offers on-the-ground guidance and contributes to quality improvement and risk reduction efforts across all Emory Healthcare facilities.

Regulatory Readiness Support:

  1. Assist in the implementation of system-wide regulatory initiatives to ensure alignment with federal state and accrediting body requirements
  2. Support facility teams in preparing for inspections audits and surveys through tracer activities gap assessments and post-survey follow-up
  3. Help monitor and track action plans and compliance progress ensuring issues are addressed and sustained

Policy Management:

  1. Assist in the development and review of system wide regulatory policies
  2. Coordinate with stakeholders to review and ensure timely updates to policies
  3. Help maintain the centralized policy management system

Operational Implementation and Support:

  1. Collaborate with the Director to translate regulatory requirements into practical tools workflows and policies that can be adopted at the site level
  2. Provide direct support to facility staff and leaders during survey preparation and readiness rounds
  3. Promote consistent application of standards and practices that align with the health systems regulatory framework

Communication and Training:

  1. Support the delivery of regulatory education and training programs for clinical and administrative staff
  2. Provide coaching during survey readiness activities to ensure teams understand expectations and compliance standards
  3. Help develop communication materials and tools that promote awareness and engagement in continuous survey readiness efforts

Monitoring and Reporting:

  1. Assist in the development and use of dashboards and performance metrics to track regulatory compliance
  2. Utilize data to identify trends gaps and opportunities for improvement
  3. Help communicate performance outcomes to relevant stakeholders and support follow-up efforts

Collaboration and Liaison Activities

  1. Serve as a liaison between facility teams and the Corporate Regulatory Affairs department supporting consistent understanding and application of regulatory activities
  2. Participate in committees workgroups and improvement teams to help advance the EHC health systems - Always Patient Ready - culture
  3. Escalate challenges and barriers to the Director and contribute to the development of practical solutions

Crisis and Incident Management

  1. Assist in the coordination of regulatory-related incident response including documentation and internal reviews
  2. Support follow-up and implementation of corrective action plans following safety events complaints or regulatory findings
  3. Contribute to the dissemination of lessons learned and best practices across the system

Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required

Work Type: On-site - Works in the office at a physical workplace interacting with colleagues face-to-face

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelors Degree Public Health Healthcare administration Nursing or a related field required
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in healthcare regulatory compliance accreditation readiness or quality improvement within a hospital or health system setting
    • Experience supporting or coordinating Joint Commission CMS and other regulatory surveys
    • Demonstrated involvement in implementing or maintaining a continuous survey readiness program or similar compliance-focused initiative
    • Strong knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards with experience working across multiple care settings (e.g. acute ambulatory outpatient)
    • Previous leadership or project management experience preferred.

Knowledge skills and abilities (required):

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory and accreditation standards including CMS The Joint Commission and state licensure requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and operationalize complex regulatory requirements into practical workflows and tools
  • Experience in facilitating or supporting regulatory readiness programs across multiple sites or departments
  • Ability to collect analyze and present data to drive improvement and monitor compliance
  • Excellent communication presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and coach teams at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a matrixed environment balancing corporate priorities with facility needs
  • Detail-oriented organized and capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications Education -

  • Masters Degree in Public Health Healthcare administration Nursing or a related field required
  • Experience - 8 years minimum experience Experience
  • Clinical background preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs. 0-33% of the work day (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking Occasional sitting Close eye work (computers typing reading writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation Shift work Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
