Job Description

Water Resources Engineer- Project Engineer

BRUDIS & ASSOCIATES INC. (BAI) is a multidiscipline engineering firm providing consulting services to public and private sector clients in the Maryland Virginia and District of Columbia region. Since 1992 BAI has provided comprehensive innovative and effective solutions to our clients transportation stormwater and infrastructure needs.

BAI is actively seeking aProject Engineer for theWater Resources Engineering Division in our Columbia Maryland office.

Job Summary

The project engineer will work under the direction of the project manager and will be the lead designer on a project within the appropriate discipline. The individual shall demonstrate an ability to collaboratively work with a group (or independently) on a wide-range of small or large scale multi-discipline projects for state county or local jurisdictions. Job requires analytical thinking adaptive and independent problem solving creativity innovation and ability to utilize design engineers to complete task assignments. Employee shall be dependable open-minded focused and attentive to details including: project schedules budgets and design quality.

Responsibilities and Duties

The qualified candidate will demonstrate the ability to coordinate design elements across various engineering disciplines with other project engineers for the development of plans specifications and estimates. The individual shall communicate design progress with project managers and utilize entry-level design engineers to complete tasks. The individual shall be knowledgeable on the design procedures or practices for the applicable client as well as maintain a firm understanding on the permit process for various permit review agencies. Responsibilities include lead designer for project development including but not limited to: roadway drainage open and closed drainage systems environmental site design stormwater management (SWM) erosion/sediment control stream restoration bridge scour analysis floodplain studies hydrology/hydraulics TMDL Critical Area NPDES & MS-4 permits SWM retrofits and BMPs Joint-Permit Application (JPA).

Qualifications and Skills

  • BSCE in Civil Engineering or appropriate discipline
  • 5-7 years of design experience in appropriate discipline
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in applicable jurisdiction (or ability to apply for reciprocity)
  • MD SHA and local MD jurisdictions are preferred
  • Strong CAD skills proficient using Microstation and associated design software with strong computer skills.
  • SWM design that includes BMPS storm drains grading and stream restoration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to provide guidance and share technical knowledge with entry-level engineers
  • Ability to work well within a project team by building relationships and teamwork
  • Work independently on smaller projects or portions of larger transportation design projects
  • Utilize hydraulic and hydrologic modeling programs and techniques including TR-20 TR-55 HEC-2 HEC-HMS ABSCOUR HEC-18 and HY-8.
  • Ability to work GIS programs Microstation Auto CAD and other engineering software programs
  • Working knowledge of Hydrology/Hydraulic Modeling Software
  • High-level of integrity ethics quality of service and safety
  • Maintain a positive rapport with supervisor and employees
  • Ability to travel to project sites

Benefits

Expected Salary Range: $95000.00 to $135000.00 per year.
