Polytechnic School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Girls Varsity Basketball Coach to support the Head Coach in leading our student-athletes both on and off the court. The ideal candidate will bring energy a deep understanding of the game and a commitment to fostering a positive team culture that emphasizes skill development sportsmanship and academic achievement.

Responsibilities

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Assist in planning and conducting practices conditioning sessions and game strategies.
• Support individual player development through skill instruction and feedback.
• Contribute to game preparation including scouting opponents and reviewing film.
• Engage robustly in fostering diversity equity and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment.
• Foster an inclusive positive and competitive team environment.
• Serve as a role model emphasizing discipline teamwork and academic accountability.
• Collaborate with the Head Coach athletic staff and school administration.
• Ensure compliance with league state and school athletic policies.
• Engage robustly in fostering diversity equity and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment;
• Willingness to take on other duties as needed.

Physical requirements and work environment

• Work in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines as well as a diverse array of contacts;
• Work at a desk and computer;
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds;
• Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment;
• Work intermittently in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.

• Previous coaching and/or playing experience in basketball (high school or higher level preferred).
• Strong communication leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to work evenings weekends and travel for games and tournaments.
