Job Summary:
The cafeteria worker will be required to perform all aspects of meal production serving and clean up within the school kitchen and cafeteria as assigned by the school Cafeteria Manager. Permanent cafeteria workers also operate the computerized point-of-sale cash register.

Qualifications:

The cafeteria worker will have the ability to:

Use commercial kitchen equipment to prepare and serve food in large quantities.
Clean kitchen equipment serving areas handwash pots and pans and other cleaning and sanitizing duties.
Read basic English in order to follow directions and written instructions.
Perform all duties while following National Restaurant Association standards for sanitation and safety.
Perform simple math functionsand operate a computerized cash register and make accurate change.
Lift 50 lbs.
Walk and stand for the duration of the work shift.
Work safely and accurately under a deadline.
Learn and follow food safety procedures (annual ServSafe training is provided and is required to pass certification exam following training).
Follow directions and ability to work independently.
Work cooperatively with co-workers and contribute to a positive working environment.
Safely tolerate exposure to heat humidity steam cooking odors refrigerator and freezer temperatures and cleaning solutions.
Work in a clean and sanitary manner.
Have fun and display a positive attitude at work.

Working Conditions:

Extended periods of standing and walking throughout the work shift in a non-air-conditioned environment.
Hair is to be restrained at all times while performing duties.
When applicable facial hair is to be covered at all times while performing duties.
Vinyl or plastic gloves are to be worn while handling food.
