The role

As a Service Desk Engineer youll have a role thats out of the ordinary. Play a pivotal role in supporting the Submarine Development Agency delivering critical services that contribute directly to the UK Ministry of Defences submarine capability. This is a unique opportunity to influence high-impact defence projects within a mission-driven environment.

Day-to-day youll lead a team of application support analysts responsible for managing a high volume of incidents from Royal Navy personnel Ministry of Defence civilians and industry partnersensuring timely resolution service continuity and customer satisfaction across all support channels.

  • Provide resolutions and updates to customer support requests
  • Prioritise tasks to ensure timely and positive customer outcomes
  • Investigate and resolve software issues via phone and email
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate progress clearly
  • Deliver support in line with service agreements and ITIL best practices

This role is full time 35 hours per week and is based on site at Babcock Technology Centre.

Essential experience of the Service Desk Engineer

  • Strong technical awareness with experience in service and software environments
  • Skilled in Oracle/SQL databases ITSM tools and ITIL-aligned support
  • Analytical problem-solver with diagnostic expertise and a proactive mindset
  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player with flexible working style
  • Passionate about software and committed to delivering excellent customer service

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
