We are assisting our client in expanding their team and seeking a Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Lead to manage safety and environmental performance across their mining operations in California. Role Overview

As HSE Lead you will be responsible for the development implementation and oversight of all health safety and environmental programs across the site. You will work closely with operations and leadership teams to ensure compliance reduce risk and foster a culture of safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of HSE strategies policies and procedures across all site activities.
  • Ensure full compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct regular field inspections audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
  • Oversee incident investigations root cause analysis and implementation of preventive measures.
  • Provide HSE training coaching and mentorship to site personnel and contractors.
  • Manage environmental compliance programs including air water and waste management.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare regulatory reports in accordance with federal state and local requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HSE best practices into operational planning and execution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health safety and environmental performance.

Minimum Qualifications Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety Environmental Science Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of HSE experience with at least 2 years in mining or heavy industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations.
  • Proven field experience in managing HSE programs on active mine sites.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams influence culture and drive compliance.
  • Strong communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CSP CIH CHMM) are considered an asset.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and willing to be based at or travel frequently to the project site.

Compensation: $100000 - $120000 annual base salary. The anticipated salary range may vary based on skills experience qualifications and internal peer equity. This range reflects the expected base compensation at the time of posting and does not include potential bonuses commissions benefits or other forms of compensation.
