At GoodGuide our general philosophy is that all of our engineers should be comfortable working with the entire software stack at least enough that they understand how the entire system works and can make the tweaks they need to get their particular job done. Within that context Product Design Engineers have a specific focus on designing and implementing the user interface for new features or entire applications.
Current projects include designing surveys and reporting interfaces for manufacturers and retailers to share and analyze data. Working on these early-stage projects will involve collaborating closely with a product manager and customers to build working prototypes gather feedback and iterate quickly to create a production-ready application. Additionally we continue to iterate and improve upon our existing consumer-facing applications and to work with retailers to help design new experiences for their customers.
We look for the following requirements in product design engineers:
- Ability to gather requirements and work from wire-frames and user stories to generate beautiful usable interfaces
- Enjoys getting work done independently and collaborating within a small team of talented developers
- Experience with CSS JavaScript and Ajax (we use HAML SASS and jQuery)
- A solid grasp of software design fundamentals
- Examples of deployed features or applications that were taken from concept to implementation
- We dont care about how many years of experience you have just about seeing examples of the great work youve done
Additionally the best candidates will have:
- B.S. in Computer Science Information Systems and/or Design
- Experience with Ruby on Rails
GoodGuide offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits. We are committed to building a culturally diverse team and strongly encourage applications from women and minority candidates.
