About the Role
Join us as part of a team working across a range of surgical specialties and subspecialties in Dunedin city home to Otago Medical School and the lively University of Otago. Here you will be exposed to several runs which include tertiary level caseloads.
The opportunity to provide healthcare to a large geographical area ensuring your exposure to a wide range of work. Great support for educational needs including weekly teaching case discussions journal clubs and peer review a department that has a strong academic presence opportunities for successful candidates will be far and wide and will involve the ability to undertake research as part of training. Rotations include:
There is also the likelihood of rotations to Cardiothoracic Surgery (one Registrar every six months) with the possibility of ICU (one Registrar every six months) depending on availability.
We have a unionised after-hours roster in place with 21 registrars on the rotation. The runs available will depend on the start date of the successful candidate.
This role belongs to the New Zealand Resident Doctors Association and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand)Collective Agreement and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (STONZ) and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) Collective Agreement
