Job Description

Job Summary:

The Referrals Navigator supports patients by guiding them through the healthcare referral process to ensure they receive the right service at the right time. This role involves processing referrals based on information obtained from patients and using medical staff-driven algorithms as well as ensuring that completed insurance authorizations are obtained through the appropriate methods.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Navigate multiple department-specific referral algorithms to ensure patients receive the correct service in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with department leadership and medical staff to support schedule utilization efficiency and overall patient access.

  • Verify that documentation is complete for services resulting from processed referrals.

  • Act as a liaison between referral sources patients and medical staff to ensure referrals are processed accurately and include all necessary information such as imaging medical records and diagnostic testing.

  • Process referral authorizations and pre-certifications accurately by working closely with clinical staff administrative teams patients and insurance payers.

  • Initiate authorization requests in accordance with prior authorization requirements applying knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes.

  • Collect and analyze data related to referral workflows and partner with leadership to identify opportunities for improving patient experience access and operational efficiency.
