Advanced Practitioner Lead (PA/NP)

Job Summary

Urgent care Advanced Practitioner Lead (PA/NP) will be divided between Clinical Care (80%) and Administrative Responsibilities (20%)

Clinical: Will provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats colds flu-like symptoms cuts sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

Administrative: Will a wide variety of administrative including: AP leader on the clinical leadership team EMR training and efficacy procedure/skills training and act as a project implementation manager for special projects and -clinic mentoring real-time observation and direct feedback to APs will be expected. Lead AP along with clinical leadership team will assist with schedule management chart review patient quality/satisfaction initiatives cover assigned Regional Physician Lead duties during sick-leave or PTO and any other administrative duties at the discretion of the Medical Director. Lead AP will be active member of clinical leadership meetings and collaboratively disseminate best practices to all providers and staff.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelors Degree required for Physician Assistants

  • Masters Degree required for Nurse Practitioners

Work Experience

  • Minimum 12 months experience in an urgent care or similar clinical environment

  • Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred

  • Prior Administrative responsibilities

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • National Certification

  • Active state medical licensure

Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting

  • Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing splinting etc.

Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Essential Functions

Essential functions are those tasks duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the jobs purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable. Following are the essential functions of the job.

Job Responsibilities

  • Examining and treating patients
  • Taking patients medical histories
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
  • Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
  • Treating minor injuries that may require sutures splints or casting
  • Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
  • Educating and counseling patients
  • Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
  • Giving vaccinations and referring patients to additional care
  • Crafting a schedule that includes at least 32 hours/week clinical care on average
  • Locations of clinics to be staffed will be based on clinic need and will be at the discretion of the Medical Director. Every effort will be made to minimize travel distances but clinic needs as determined by the Medical Director will be the deciding factor.

  • All clinical hours worked over 32 hours/week on average will be paid at the providers hourly rate. The Medical Director reserves the right to look back on a quarterly basis and reduce such payments by the shortage of hours worked in weeks when less than 32 clinical hours were worked.

Administrative Duties

  • Provide a wide variety of administrative including: AP leader on the clinical leadership team EMR training and efficacy procedure/skills training and act as a project implementation manager for special projects and initiatives.

  • In-clinic mentoring real-time observation and direct feedback to APs will be expected.

  • Lead AP along with clinical leadership team will assist with schedule management chart review patient quality/satisfaction initiatives cover assigned Associate Medical Director duties during sick-leave or PTO and any other administrative duties at the discretion of the Medical Director.

  • Lead AP will be active member of clinical leadership meetings and collaboratively disseminate best practices to all providers and staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree as PA clinical training and licensed as PA

  • At least 12 months experience in an urgent care or similar clinical environment

  • Prior administrative responsibilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
