Job Summary

  • Initiative - Truck Electrification School Bus Electrification
  • The Project Manager will assist trucking fleets with the creation of Fleet Electrification Plans (FEPs) and manage clients existing electric school bus (ESB) FEP program.
  • Remote possibility to work in NYC/Albany office for team meetings. 5% travel required

  • Clean Transportation teams bus and truck electrification program with a three-year remote contract
  • The goal is to achieve 100% zero-emission school buses by 2035 currently managing over 400 active projects across 700 school districts in New York State.
  • The new truck fleet electrification program will be developed using a similar technical assistance model as that for school districts.
  • Daily responsibilities include 30-40% on stakeholder calls 30-40% project management tasks and 20% problem-solving coordination efforts.
  • Required qualifications are 3-6 years of project management experience; candidates with 10 years of practical experience in lieu of a degree will also be considered.
  • Candidates should preferably have a background in fleet electrification and experience in managing resistant stakeholders due to state electrification mandates.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Excel for project tracking is necessary with strong writing skills emphasized for effective communication.
  • Engagement with various stakeholders including school districts and utility providers is essential for program awareness and coordination.

Position Overview

  • PM1 role for Clean Transportation teams bus and truck electrification program - three-year contract fully remote with minimal travel potential.
  • Team structure includes 5-person tight-knit team within larger 25-30 person Clean Transportation division meeting weekly on Mondays.

Program Scope & Responsibilities

  • Fleet Electrification Plan (FEP) support for school districts achieving 100% zero emission school buses by 2035 state goal.
  • 400 active projects with 700 total school districts statewide expecting significant expansion.
  • Truck fleet electrification program launching with similar technical assistance model for municipal and private fleets.
  • Project management of nearly 100 ongoing projects simultaneously once fully ramped.

Daily Responsibilities Breakdown

30-40% call time - processing applications managing ongoing projects stakeholder discussions.

30-40% project management - invoice processing deliverable reviews ensuring scope compliance.

20% problem-solving - team coordination potential travel organizational outreach.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong project management communication attention to detail as three core competencies.
  • 3-6 years experience with flexibility for bachelors degree holders or 10 years practical experience without degree.
  • Fleet electrification background strongly preferred - charging companies municipal/private fleet experience valued.
  • Customer service orientation for managing resistant stakeholders required by state law to electrify.

Technical Requirements

  • Salesforce and Excel proficiency for tracking not advanced formula work.
  • Strong writing skills essential for nuanced email communication.
  • IT system fluency or ability to learn systems quickly Microsoft Office suite.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • External engagement with school districts trucking fleets business officials trade organizations.
  • State Education Department (SED) coordination on school bus initiatives.
  • Utility providers statewide for power capacity planning and coordination.
  • Nonprofit and local organizations for program awareness and outreach.

Interview Process & Timeline
