Clinical Genetics Research at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a full-time contract (12 months) Research Assistant 1 to assist with ongoing studies in the field of clinical genetics. The aim of Clinical Genetics Research is to determine the genetic and non-genetic causes of complex disease including major psychiatric illnesses especially schizophrenia. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the director and other investigators in clinical genetic research studies. Duties will relate to many aspects of research such as database maintenance (in MS Access including collecting updating entering checking and analyzing data using MS Access and SAS coding and organizing research data as well as assisting in preparing grant applications and presentation. Your work with ensure data integrity with Progency. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 250 College Street.

The successful applicant will have a secondary school diploma or equivalent. Experience working or volunteering in a clinical research setting is strongly excellent computer skills and the ability to perform pedigree-drawing are essential (Access SAS & Progency as well as WordPerfect Excel Outlook and PowerPoint). Preference will be given to applicants with previous research experience with 22q deletion syndrome especially with hands on experience with MS Access statistical analysis software SAS pedigree-drawing program Progency and familiarity with medical terminology and a background in education. MEDLINE research and website development experience would be considered assets. Some knowledge of SQL language and Progeny or Cyrillic preferred Successful applicants will have excellent communication organizational and analytical skills clinical/research experience be highly accurate in their work able to pay high attention to detail and able to work well in a fast-paced environment independently as well as part of a team. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
