POSITION SUMMARY:
The Hospital Linen Room Lead Employee is responsible for overseeing linen operations within the hospital ensuring that linen needs are fulfilled efficiently and accurately across the facility. This role includes managing linen inventory distributing clean linen collecting soiled linen maintaining linen room safety standards and training and leading entry-level staff. Additionally this role serves as a key point of communication with hospital departments to ensure the smooth operation of linen services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the delivery of clean linen to various hospital units ensuring timely and accurate distribution.
- Coordinate the collection of soiled linen from hospital areas and ensure safe transport to designated areas.
- Monitor and enforce safety and hygiene procedures related to linen handling and room operations.
- Verify linen counts and inventory levels adjusting orders as needed to meet hospital requirements.
- Conduct regular linen inventory checks and report discrepancies.
- Build strong relationships with hospital staff and departments by addressing linen-related issues and providing excellent customer service.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe working environment in the linen room and throughout the hospital linen distribution process.
- Communicate effectively with the supervisor regarding linen shortages quality issues or operational challenges.
- Train and lead entry-level linen room staff providing guidance motivation and ongoing feedback.
- Ensure compliance with hospital standards and Joint Commission requirements.
- Operate laundry and distribution equipment as needed assisting with day-to-day tasks to support the team.
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones logging inventory data and assisting with reports.
- Assist with other duties as assigned to ensure smooth department operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-2 years of experience in healthcare laundry or similar environments.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate staff.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of standing walking bending and lifting for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and push/pull linen carts up to 400 pounds.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays.
- Familiarity with basic computer skills and willingness to learn new software.
