Job Description
Job Summary
The program assistant is a vital part of the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) team at Wenatchee Valley College that serves 140 eligible students in successfully completing a 2-yr degree. The assistant will provide TRIO staff students faculty and/or the public with information and interpretation of policies and activities related to the program. This position performs general office duties assistance with administrative tasks and specific responsibilities around TRIO services and program objectives.
TRIO SSS programs are federal outreach and student services programs in the United States designed to identify and provide services to assist low-income individuals first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities to complete a degree. These programs are funded by the United States Department of Education. The goal of TRIO SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates among its participants.
Essential Functions
- Create application files and maintain documents supporting TRIO SSS eligibility.
- Use TRIO SSS student database to enter and track student demographics contact and schedule information; assist staff with data entry and tracking.
- Order and maintain office supplies schedule rooms prepare letters and announcements and take meeting notes.
- Data entry and record keeping of program expenditures within appropriate categories.
- Answer phones serve as email receptionist greet and refer visitors provide general office support.
- Maintain program documentation; assist in establishing policy and procedure manuals.
- Serve as primary contact with program participants; provide information regarding program policies and activities; perform a variety of public relations functions.
- Compose correspondence printed materials and/or news releases related to program policies procedures and operations; edit materials for accuracy appearance
- Compile and distribute information relative to program activities confer with other campus departments and outside agencies; interpret statistical data historical activity reports and other materials in the functional area.
- Coordinate logistics for program on 25Live such as meetings activities and events
- Schedule appointments and meetings record and disseminate minutes of meetings as required.
- Maintain and monitor budget and inform supervisor of status.
- Perform complex word processing tasks such as merging and sorting integrating text with graphics spreadsheet and database files uploading and downloading and creating footnotes and outlines.

Additional Information
Terms of Employment:
The current vacancy in TRIO support services is a part-time (20 hours per week) overtime and benefit eligible grant-funded position expected to begin as soon as possible. The grant is funded through August 31 2026. Continuation of the position is contingent on continued grant funding.
The prorated starting salary hiring range for 20 hours per week is $1619.50 per month ($18.61 per hour) to $1821.50 (20.94 per hour) with periodic increases and earning potential to $2149.50 per month ($24.71 per hour).The list established by this recruitment will be active for a minimum of three months and be used to fill this position only.

- Work hours are generally four hours per day Monday through Friday; hours and days may change depending on the needs of the college. Work in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions and distractions.
