Job Duties
Virginias Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking for multiple service-oriented professionals to work as Customer Service Generalists in our Harrisonburg Customer Service Center. If you possess strong customer service and cash/credit card handling experience problem-solving skills a willingness to learn and want a career with growth opportunities we would like to talk with you.
Job Duties Include:
Communicating policies procedures and regulations
Issuing IDs
Processing applications
Administering vision driver and in-car road tests
Processing diverse vehicle registrations titling tax and fee collection and other DMV-related services

Minimum Qualifications
Proven ability to provide face-to-face customer service addressing needs and concerns professionally and courteously.
Proficiency in operating computer systems databases and other equipment necessary for DMV operations.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles including transaction reconciliations.
Ability to interpret explain and apply complex statutes such as the Virginia Motor Vehicle Code as well as other laws rules regulations policies and procedures.
Adaptability to frequent changes in statutes policies and procedures.
Strong analytical skills to review records files and documents reaching logical and legal conclusions.
Ability to work effectively under pressure during peak workload periods.
Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse customers and colleagues.
Ability to complete required training and perform work tasks at various workstations within the CSC as assigned.
Operational proficiency to utilize all necessary tools and equipment efficiently.
Additional Considerations
Knowledge of DMV policies and procedures related to licensing registration titling and compliance with the Privacy Protection Act.
Familiarity with public sector operations including state agency procedures and government regulations.
Previous experience mentoring or training staff in a professional environment.
Previous experience with DMV operations or a similar regulatory agency.
Comprehensive experience mentoring or guiding team members in a professional setting.
Security Clearances: A criminal background check is required to ensure the integrity of DMV operations.
Drivers License: Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license with fewer than 6 demerit points.
Instructor Certification: Must be 21 years of age and maintain the instructor certification for administering road tests.
