The Organization

Good Samaritan Family Resource Center (GSFRC) is an innovative multi-service non-profit agency located in San Franciscos Mission District. Its mission is to help immigrant families access needed services develop self-sufficiency and participate fully as members of the community. Our staff is a diverse and talented team willing to take different and unique approaches to help children youth and families thrive and succeed.

Position Summary

The primary purpose of the Newcomer Program Site Specialist is to provide direct service to participants. As a Newcomer Program Site Specialist you will assist in the planning and implementation of our GSFRC Newcomer curriculum and services. Services may include; non-clinical Support Groups Literacy Workshops and interventions one-to-one student coaching and Individual learning plan development and a variety of support services at select SFUSD sites. The services provided will focus on youth ages 5 - 15 and be guided by our logic model which promotes healthy self-esteem development bi-cultural identity academic success and healthy peer relationships to help them achieve emotional wellness resiliency leadership skills and a lifelong commitment to service. The Program Site Specialist position will also perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Youth Services.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Design review and update of GSFRC Support Group Curriculum.
  • Directly lead and facilitate support groups with Students.
  • May serve as a driver and chaperone on field trips.
  • Attend regular meetings with staff school staff as well as the Newcomer Program Manager to coordinate logistics develop curriculum and evaluate quality of the program or issues that arise.
  • Coordinate and maintain primary contact with families of youth participants.
  • Work with Latinx & Newcomer Services Site Coordinators to provide specific events during school year for all participants and parents.
  • Assist in conducting participant evaluation of all program components at the end of each semester.
  • Support in maintaining participant files including Salesforce intake parent and participant consent forms emergency information and other necessary documentation.
  • Maintain attendance records for all program activities and manage the reporting of attendance records.
  • Ensure that all participants follow all agency policies and program procedures and that the activities and services are aligned with GSFRCs Mission and Vision.
  • Maintain knowledge of other resources in the community and work with other GSFRC staff to refer youth to needed services.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven ability to communicate and develop positive relationships with youth.
  • 2 years of college or proven relevant experience and success working with youth and/or youth development experience.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills: organize program files keep written records of meetings and provide reports.
  • Must be on time for scheduled workdays and program activities and demonstrate professionalism and respect in communication with other staff youth and parents.
  • Ability to manage a classroom and supervise youth.
  • Experience working with Latino immigrant population and understanding of immigrant issues and available resources.
  • Ability to promote and maintain a positive sense of teamwork.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Bilingual English / Spanish required.
  • Must have a valid California Driver License and clean driving record.
  • Must clear full background check (Department of Justice FBI Child Abuse Index).
  • Must have TB clearance
  • Must complete and maintain current California Mandated Reporter Training certification in compliance with California state law.
