Job Description

Area Manager - New Jersey

STV is looking to hire an Area Manager to drive growth market diversification and provide exceptional leadership to this exciting expansion for the Transportation Group.

As the Area Manager for the Transportation Group for New Jersey you are the highest-ranking executive of STVs Transportation Group for your region. Your performance creates a vibrant growth-oriented collaborative and robust business that is seen as an active member of the communities in which you operate a trusted advisor to your clients a valued teaming partner a leader in the industry and a formidable competitor.

Joining STVs Transportation Group you will work closely with national market sector leaders area managers and other discipline leaders to deliver comprehensive architecture engineering planning and design services. Our market sectors span across highway and bridge design transit and planning working for clients such as the New Jersey Department of Transportation New Jersey Turnpike Authority City of Newark and other(s). Under your leadership you will mentor and lead an existing team of Engineers who specialize in Roadways Transportation Stations Rail and Transit Hubs & Maintenance Facilities while building strategies to expand into other untouched vertical markets across the New Jersey area.

What youll be contributing to in this role:

Youll be accountable for planning and organizing the business and for making the operational decisions necessary to achieve STVs desired strategic and annual outcomes for the Area. These outcomes include targets and objectives for client relations growth project performance efficiency and talent development.

Representing STV with clients the industry and the broader community across New Jersey.

Working with STV client service team leaders to ensure STV enjoys a robust relationship with its clients.

Maintaining close professional relationships with key people at the client teaming partner industry and community organizations.

Creating and implementing plans that align with and achieve STVs strategic plan objectives.

Identifying recruiting and developing talent with the aim of growing the business and ensuring a strong line of succession for key leadership roles in the operation.

Providing effective management of STVs local business activities including selection of STVs client mix and services offering adding new clients winning new work execution of projects hiring locally based personnel resource planning and controlling overhead expenditure.

Ensuring the operation adheres to STVs policies and procedures.

Identifying mentoring and training the next generation of future leaders.

Analyzing and understanding client business and industry issues that potentially affect STVs business in New Jersey and preparing plans to position STV to capitalize on those trends.

Assessing the performance of the STV team members and taking action to rectify any shortfalls against expectations and to recognize and promote those of exceptional ability.

Analyzing and reporting on business performance and implementing timely measures to address adverse outcomes to ensure financial goals are achieved.

What youll need to succeed:

Educational Background: BS/MS in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Professional Registration: Registered in New Jersey or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months. Registration in additional states is a plus. The willingness and ability to sign & seal.

Experience: Have 20 years of experience in relevant market sector/s with a proven track record in operations leadership and project delivery.

Multi-Disciplinary Technical Leadership: You will be a proven leader of multidisciplinary design teams including Project Managers Structural and Roadway

Business Growth: You will enjoy being both externally and internally facing driving new business optimizing relationships with existing clients leading proposals/pursuit strategies and leading a growing team of Architects and Engineers.

P&L Ownership Preferred (not essential) that you have had some exposure or prior ownership for a group P&L.

Market Specialization: Youll be a subject matter expert in one or multiple vertical markets such as Transportation and Roadway Projects

How is your performance measured

You excel in multiple facets of STVs business including leadership management and execution. Performance is therefore measured on a mix of quantitative and qualitative factors as follows:

Quantitative Measures:

Building a reputable and competitive business: $ won & $ hit rate.

Creating opportunities for employees: year-on-year service revenue growth.

Establishing and managing an efficient business: service revenue $ / total payroll $.

Exercising good commercial judgment and practices: DSO & overhead rate.

Qualitative Measures:

Exhibit the highest standards of leadership and collaboration: 360-degree reviews.

Represent STV in the community: personal involvement and leadership in relevant organizations.

Build an enduring operation: voluntary turnover & succession planning.

Ensure provision of high-quality services: quality audits repeat business client feedback surveys.

Compensation Range:

$211320.25 - $264150.31

STV is committed to paying all of its employees in a fair equitable and transparent manner. The listed pay range is STVs good-faith salary estimate for this position. Please note that the final salary offered for this position may be outside of this published range based on many factors including but not limited to geography education experience and/or certifications.
