We are looking for a Full-time Permanent Team Lead for our Crisis Services team! The Team Lead will provide leadership support to the team and support the Program Manager in providing clinical supervision and operational support during their shift.


Status: Full-time Permanent 12 hours shifts on a rotational schedule including weekdays weekends and overnights
Salary: Salary will include an additional $5000 per year on the current Crisis Support Worker salary
Location:This position is based out of our 60 West Drive to the nature of this program this role is on-site and/or community based.


What you will do:

  • Assisting with the day to day clinical operations on the team during their shift
  • Support staff in prioritizing client issues and tasks as needed
  • Conduct regular clinical supervisions with front line staff
  • Support the Manager in team meetings including planning chairing and following up with actions as appropriate
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage during shifts
  • Escalate staff and clinical issues to the Manager as appropriate
  • Aid with leadership of program development
  • Participate with identifying and organizing training for the program
  • Ensure service data is being collected and recorded regularly; daily reports done in a timely manner
  • Co-ordinate closely with Go-To staff on each shift
  • Coordinate attend participate in team/staff meetings and all-staff meetings as required
  • Participate in agency quality improvement activities e.g. accreditation projects Information Systems Support and Privacy and Security committees special events etc.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with the team and other program teams internal and external to CMHA Peel Dufferin

What you will need to join our team:

  • University Degree in Social work BSc. Nursing Degree in occupational therapy or Masters degree in counselling
  • Must be a Registered Health Professional and adhere to standards of practice as per designated college
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in acute mental health sector preferably in the community
  • Minimum one year of supervision or leadership experience in a clinical or community setting
  • Knowledge and principles of crisis theory and intervention
  • Experience with crisis intervention techniques and theory based practice in working with the seriously mentally ill
  • Demonstrated knowledge on risk assessments suicide prevention
  • A good understanding of the Mental Health Act and DSM V as it relates to crisis intervention.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with a multidisciplinary team and other agencies in the community including the ability to work with police court system inpatient and outpatient mental health systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach listen build trust and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence.
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist anti-oppressive 2SLGBTQ affirming and intersectional framework.
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity such as gender identity/expression race/cultural background religion sexual orientation disability immigration and precarious status family status etc.
  • Fluency in a second language including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset.
  • Valid Canadian drivers license and access to an insured automobile in good repair
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report.
  • 12-hour shifts on a rotational schedule; overnights weekends and public holidays work is required
