Summary:
As a Medical Receptionist you will be responsible for the efficient running of our medical reception appointments and patient needs. Acting as first point of contact between clients visitors and staff to ensure enquiries and requests are dealt with promptly.
Duties include (but not limited to):
- Be responsible for the efficient running of our medical reception appointments and patient needs. Acting as first point of contact between clients visitors and staff to ensure enquiries and requests are dealt with promptly.
- Participate in arranging patient transport external appointments and assistance as required.
- Maintain and create new and current patient records to include personal details filing & scanning of correspondence and results.
- Assist in maintaining an accurate database as required including regular updates to software.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity to all patients/colleagues who are treated/work in the Unit.
- A sound knowledge of Aboriginal culture and values and the ability to effectively communicate with Aboriginal people.
- Work in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety policy and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of clients staff and DWECH at all times.
- Maintain office equipment and supplies.
- Administration and additional tasks as required under the direction of the Practice Manager.
You must have:
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or recognised experience in reception and customer service skills would be desirable but not essential.
- Well established written (typing/handwriting) and verbal communication skills. A sound knowledge of medical terminology would be highly beneficial but not essential.
- Knowledge of computer programs including Word Excel email appointment management software and the ability to learn additional programs when required.
- National Police Check or the willingness to obtain within employer specified timeframe.
- Working with Children Check or the willingness to obtain within employer specified timeframe.
- Must be willing to undertake training and professional development.
- Annual First Aid and CPR training where the role requires.
- Emergency Management training where the role requires.
- Current Victorian Drivers License.
- Proof of vaccination status consistent with public health orders and with DWECH policy (includes but is not limited to COVID-19 (3) seasonal influenza vaccination highly recommended).
