Job Description
Full Time 40hrs/Week 8 Hour Shifts Monday-Friday
The Position:
The primary responsibilities of the Surgery Supply and Instrument Assistant include maintaining cleanliness and functionality of all the departments serviced by anesthesia and surgery stocking and maintaining supplies in these areas and helping process instruments including cleaning packing sterilizing and stocking instruments and equipment. Also maintaining the surgery inventory and system. They will play an essential role in the daily operations of the surgery and anesthesia departments. By working collaboratively with all staff and other areas in the hospital to perform a variety of services to facilitate continuous and efficient functioning of these and other areas of the hospital.
Some Duties to include:
- Keeping all departments of the hospital that surgery and anesthesia use stocked clean and orderly.
- Working closely with the instrument technician to coordinate sterilization of surgical linens and instrumentation to maintain an adequate supply for surgical procedures to include cleaning wrapping sterilizing and stocking.
- Stocking the operating room with sterile equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintaining the supply of surgical scrubs and laundry for patients and personnel including washing drying and folding scrubs and bedding.
- Cleaning runs/cages countertops equipment gurneys etc.
- Order and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies
- Research products and supplies requested by staff to ensure clinical specifications are met.
Physical Requirements:
- Mandatory regular attendance and punctual presence.
- Able to stand for long periods of time up to 80%-100% of entire shift.
- Able to perform some repetitive movement of upper/lower body while lifting/transporting equipment.

COMPENSATION:
Veterinary Assistants starting $20-$25/hour
Please note that candidates with additional experience or credentials may be eligible for compensation aligned with their qualifications
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for applicants with at least 3 years of experience in a surgical environment. As this position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills we require applicants to include a cover letter showcasing your writing skills.
