POSTING: Librarian
Part-time position
Primary Purpose: The Librarian will contribute to the Education Department through acquisition of books and resource material to promote literacy reading and public information. The Librarian will maintain a library which will house books magazines videos and other resources. They will also be responsible for grant applications/subsidies and fundraising.
RESPONSIBILITIES/Duties
- Seek out donations of videos books magazines and other materials as well as monetary donations for fundraising to purchase the above materials.
- Promote Literacy reading and community events through the library including a monthly newsletter.
- Review existing library policies and services advise and recommend changes or additions to the Education Director.
- Allocate resources to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the library.
- Develop and promote a vision of library service that supports the goals and objectives of the community and its members.
- Cultivate relationships with community members leaders and decision-makers and those working to provide other community services.
- Complete annual surveys of public users monthly financial statements for the administration and monthly activity reports for the department manager.
- Provide a friendly and safe environment where people feel welcomed.
- Assist community members in using the librarys services and resources and in finding the information materials and resources they need.
- Ensure that the library collection is properly organized and maintained.
- Plan and coordinate library events and programs which align with community interests and priorities.
- Develop relationships with neighboring libraries to facilitate the sharing of resources information and know-how.
- Other Duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in office or business administration or equivalent experience.
- Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in office administrative practices and procedures and
- Familiarity with various reporting templates and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible possess excellent organizational skills be a self-starter work independently and be a team player.
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computers database computer graphics and accounting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
- Criminal record check be completed.
- A valid class G drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle is preferred but not required.
Salary: $17.68/hr
