Needham Public Schools is an inclusive dynamic and multicultural community seeking an energetic skilled and warm part-time Latin Advisor for an independent study courseto join our team. To enhance our goals of supporting every child Needham Public Schools seeks candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Thisis a part-time temporary stipended role for the 2025-2026 academic year. The advisor will guide students through a year-long asynchronous independent study course helping them meet academic goals and thrive as self-directed learners.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

• Student Support & Guidance:
• Work with students to set and refine their personal Latin learning goals.
• Provide consistent support through bi-weekly virtual office hours and scheduled appointments.
• Promote student self-reflection and goal-setting in line with the Portrait of a Needham Graduate competencies.
• Course Management & Evaluation:
• Monitor student progress ensuring each student completes 35 hours of learning per quarter.
• Conduct quarterly evaluations and provide actionable feedback.
• Submit quarterly Pass/Fail grades to the guidance department.
• Use the Google Suite (Docs Calendar Meet Drive Sheets) to manage course implementation and student records.
• Communication:
• Proactively communicate with students families and school counselors regarding any academic or progress concerns.
• Document all student support sessions and interventions.
• participate in common planning time department meetings and faculty meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Proven expertise in the Latin language and Roman culture.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education.

Education:

• Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

• Masters Degree in related area preferred.

Experience:

• Successful prior world language teaching experience a plus.
