As a paid Summer Intern for the Performance Measures team students will experience life as a full-time employee working on impactful real-life assignments and projects that apply their skills and education. The Network Strategy Design & Innovation (NSD&I) team focuses on improving BNSFs service quality operational efficiency profitability and network expansion. As a part of this larger team the Ops Measures team delivers reports tools and analytics designs performance reporting systems employs analytical techniques and recommends improvements to enhance productivity playing a key role in supporting long-term initiatives. Successful Interns may be hired as full-time Management Trainees upon graduation.

This is a full-time hybrid position requiring a minimum of 40 hrs/wk split between the office and remote work with weekend or evening work as needed.
Travel is minimal must have reliable transportation to and from work.
Relocation is required if located more than 50 miles from the location.
Training will start with a two-day orientation in Fort Worth Texas offering a company overview and networking with leaders. This will be followed by support on ongoing projects and practical training with the department.
Key responsibilities may include:
Designing and developing performance reporting systems and analytical techniques for rail operations.
Providing analytical support to Network Strategy Design Innovation and Transportation leaders on train yard and block volume changes car velocity and utilization terminal and train operational performance and blocking integrity.
Participating in transportation services analyses and building presentations for internal and external distribution.
Performing timely analysis and communicating complex material effectively.
Possess leadership teamwork clear communication adaptability and resilience to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire.
- Does not require BNSFs assistance now or in the future (whether monetary through sponsorship or otherwise) to obtain maintain or extend employment authorization (including H-1B STEM OPT/CPT or TN nonimmigrant status).
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Data Science Computer Science Management Information Systems Engineering OR a similar degree program from an accredited university.
- Have and will maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
- Have LESS THAN three (3) years of professional work experience/military experience EXCLUDING internships part-time jobs or positions held while pursuing my undergraduate and/or graduate degree.
- Have access to reliable transportation for the duration of the internship to and from my assigned BNSF location.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior intern experience or less than 3 years of work experience in Data Science Technology or a related field.
- Have or have held a leadership position in a campus community or extracurricular organization.
