Job Description
Our client is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Sustainability & Environmental Manager to lead and support the design implementation and communication of key environmental and ESG initiatives. This role will focus on forestry renewable resource management certification standards and corporate reputation building while ensuring alignment with industry sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Explore and implement the companys Indigenous Tree Project including the establishment of approximately 100 hectares of indigenous trees for future fuelwood use.
- Develop and deliver communication strategies to address and overcome negative perceptions of eucalyptus.
- Publicise the companys sustainability initiatives highlighting activities such as the protection of indigenous woodland and broader environmental contributions.
- Coordinate the compilation and publication of the companys Annual Sustainability Report.
- Drive the attainment of Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certification including preparation of budgets timelines and project plans.
- Enhance internal awareness by promoting environmental responsibility and embedding sustainability practices across all departments.
- Integrate ESG considerations into the companys strategy and operations in support of industry-wide sustainability efforts.
- Undertake additional projects or initiatives that align with funders expectations and the companys sustainability mandate.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Environmental Science Sustainability Natural Resources Management or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in sustainability forestry or ESG-related roles.
- Strong project management skills with proven ability to deliver measurable outcomes.
- Familiarity with international sustainability frameworks standards and certifications (e.g. FSC ESG reporting).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence perceptions and build a positive corporate image.
- Ability to work independently while also fostering collaboration across multiple teams.
