Title: Ultrasound Technologist General
Department: Radiology / Cardiology Ultrasound
Type: Travel Contract (13 Weeks)
Schedule: Day Shift 4x10 Hours (06:00 AM 04:00 PM) On-call required (1 night/week rotating weekends)
Start Date: 10/06/2025

Job Description Summary:

We are seeking a General Ultrasound Technologist to join Providence Health and Services for a 13-week travel contract. This role involves providing diagnostic ultrasound procedures across multiple specialties with a strong emphasis on general sonography vascular studies (DVT carotids) and biopsy procedures. Candidates with breast ultrasound experience will be highly preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound exams including OB/GYN general abdominal vascular neonatal and small parts imaging.

  • Conduct procedures such as ultrasound-guided biopsies paracentesis thoracentesis and fine-needle aspirations.

  • Support patient care in multiple work settings including adult ER pediatrics NICU and PICU (preferred).

  • Maintain imaging equipment (Philips preferred) and ensure accurate use of PACS systems.

  • Participate in on-call coverage (one night per week) and weekend rotation as required.

  • Ensure compliance with hospital and departmental standards including Epic charting.

Key Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of ultrasound experience (first-time travelers accepted).

  • Community hospital experience required.

  • Travel experience not required.

  • Expected ratios: 1:1 patient care.

  • Must be comfortable with general sonography vascular ultrasound (DVT carotids) and biopsy procedures.

  • Weekend and on-call rotation required.

  • 48-hour work weeks not approved.

Qualifications Education:
  • Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

Experience:
  • At least 1 year of professional ultrasound experience.

  • Exposure to vascular studies and biopsies preferred.

License & Certifications:
  • Required: BLS ARRT-Sonography OR ARDMS AB.

  • Preferred: ARDMS BR ARDMS FE ARDMS OB/GYN RDMS-Peds NT-Nuchal Translucency RVT.

Skills:
  • OB/GYN imaging (all trimesters fetal anatomical survey placenta previa amniotic fluid index).

  • General ultrasound (abdomen liver pancreas spleen gallbladder appendix breast).

  • Vascular imaging (carotid venous arterial Doppler studies renal artery duplex upper/lower extremity).

  • Neonatal & pediatric imaging (head heart bone lengths cerebellum ventricles).

  • Small parts (thyroid testicular/scrotum breast ultrasound & cyst aspiration).

  • Strong proficiency with PACS and Philips ultrasound equipment (preferred).

  • Ability to work with outpatients and portables in multiple care settings.
