Project Description:
As an intern you will work with engineering and business staff to support the facilitation of capital projects on the distribution system. The roles include supporting the five-year budget forecasting process projecting monthly forecasts and comparing these projects against actuals.
An internship in Investment Delivery will provide real life knowledge of how Xcel Energy manages distribution planning and operation related to its capital investments on the distribution system
Typical intern responsibilities mayinclude but are not limited to:
- Participate in the monthly financial close process.
- Learning to use various accounting and budgeting systems.
- Financial planning and analysis.
- Assist with updates data maintenance and analysis.
- Internal reporting on budget status to leadership.
This position is for June 2026. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internships initial term based on the candidates successful performance and Xcels business needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Current student Junior or Senior status (as of May 2026).
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree inFinance Accounting Data Analytics and Business Administration.
- Able to commute to the service center in Denver CO - Hybrid Schedule
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the fall (up to 20 hours a week).
Preferred Qualifications
- 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
- Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework including classes in Intermediate Accounting Auditing and/or Tax
- Experience with Microsoft Suite specifically PowerPoint and Excel.
