This position is located in In Vivo Sciences a Chapter within Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) where the Housing and Care of Laboratory Animals and state-of-the-art conduct of animal experiments in Pharmacology PK/PD and Toxicology are a primary Vivo Sciences is responsible for the Animal Care and Use Program in pRED and thus a key business enabler for all in vivo studies.
Are you passionate about animal welfare and scientific research Do you enjoy working in a dynamic team environment where multitasking is essential We are looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our in vivo research team focusing on rodent and rabbit studies in the fields of toxicology safety efficacy and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD).
Your responsibilities will include:
Participating in in vivo studies with rodents and rabbits.
Performing animal handling techniques for rats and mice including clinical scoring and blood sampling.
Administering dosing via various routes (IP IV PO subcutaneous).
Assisting with or conducting surgical procedures including anaesthesia and providing pre- and postoperative care.
Supporting routine animal husbandry such as providing food and water cleaning and maintaining animal housing and equipment.
Proactively improving animal care and housing standards.
Participating in weekend husbandry and study activities on a rotational schedule.
Complying with cantonal and institutional animal welfare standards and regulations.
Please note this position is temporary for 2 years.
You bring a minimum of 3 years of work experience as a laboratory technician animal technician veterinary nurse (e.g. Tiermedizinische Praxisassistentin (TPA)) or a comparable field.
You have hands-on experience in preclinical in vivo studies and training in animal handling according to Swiss animal welfare legislation (LTK1) are a plus.
You are a willing and positive team player with an open mindset.
You are fluent in both written and spoken English; German is a plus.
